Flat Plate Blister Packing machine Or Rotary Drum Blister Packing machine?
There could be multiple differentiators between the two types of commonly used Blister Packing machines in the pharma sector (ie for packaging of Tablets, Capsules, Dragees etc).
However, in the pharma manufacturer's point of view, few key points that differentiates the two are as under:
1. Alu-Alu vs PVC-Alu packing:
When the Forming sheet is of PVC and sealing is with Aluminium Or Paper, once can use either Flat Plate or Rotary Drum Blister Packing machine. But, when Forming and Sealing both needs to be Aluminium, the Blister Packing machine has to be Flat plate only.
2. Thermo Forming Vs Cold Forming:
As an extension to the earlier point, the Rotary Drum Blister Packing machine uses the principle of thermoforming and sealing. Therefore, it can handle only PVC-Alu combination of blisterpack. Whereas, the Flat Plate machine can handle both Thermofoming , as well as, Cold forming.
In summary, Rotary Drum can handle only thermoforming and sealing, whereas, Flat Plate machine can handle both thermofoming-sealing as well as, cold forming-sealing.
3. Rotary Drum requires smaller space compared with the Flat Plate machine.
4. Number of strokes per minutes are much higher incase of the Rotary Drum machine, in comparison with the Flat Plate one.
5. Flat Plate can also handle other products like Ampoules, Vials and Tubes, whereas, Rotary drum can rarely Or not necessarily is able to handle such products.
